Lucy Comninos
Senior Teacher

About Me

My name is Lucy Comninos and I am looking forward to a wonderful year of teaching and learning with my new Grade 3 class. My greatest fulfilment as a teacher is centred in the relationships I get to foster with each child, and the privilege of being part of their lives for a year.

My experience

I went into teaching when my own children were babies, and have been teaching for 24 years. I started my teaching career in Natal. After moving to Cape Town, I spent some years teaching Grades 2 and 4 at Seamount Primary in Milnerton, before taking up a post as Grade 3 teacher at King’s School in 2008. I am passionate about helping each child to reach their potential. I love to see children express themselves as individuals, and feel lucky to witness their creativity on a daily basis.

A little about me:

I am from Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape, where I attended Collegiate Girls High School, studied, and completed a B.Ed. specialising in Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Nelson Mandela University.

I have spent the past few years teaching in schools such as Clarendon Park Primary School, and home-schooling a variety of groups of children within the Intermediate / Senior and Foundation Phases.

Before joining King’s School I worked full time as the children’s pastor, and headed up the Kids department at our multi-site church. This year at King’s I will be the Grade 5 class teacher, as well as teaching Natural Sciences and Technology, and a few other subjects to the grade 4-6’s.

Food: Sushi

Books: There are too many to name, but my favourite fiction series is definitely the Harry Potter series
