Dear Parents,
I trust you are well.
There have been a few news articles pertaining to the re-opening of schools.
We have not received a formal notification from the WCED nor ISASA regarding the official re-opening of schools. Needless to say, we are all very eager to get back to some form of normality.
The teachers have been working very hard at getting all the online lessons ready and uploaded. We have all been on a crash course, upskilling our PC skills. We are aware that it is not easy on you as parents, as well. Having to manage and monitor the child’s work, while coping with your own work, unstable internet, a new routine at home and a range of other factors adds to the frustration of lockdown. We want to thank you for your continued support.
We ask that you continue to encourage the children and ensure that they do the work and our appeal is that you submit the work they have completed, to the relevant teachers as per their specific instructions. Each teacher may have given different instructions to their class.
I am also happy to hear of the initiative parents are taking to embrace these challenging times by, amongst others, arranging virtual playdates, parties via ZOOM etc.
Please note, our country is still in grip of the pandemic and we should remain vigilant in respect of the COVID 19 guidelines as per the information previously distributed and which is posted on our website.
Stay safe and all the best.
Kind Regards
N Ontong Principal

Dear Parents,
We wish you all a very blessed Easter weekend.
We find ourselves in uncharted waters as a school community, as a nation and I think it would be correct to say as global citizens.
The COVID-19 pandemic is causing major disruptions in all spheres of life.
Nevertheless, we choose to keep the faith and be positive during these times. Last night, 9 April, we heard the President extend the lockdown period until the end of April. The school leadership is supportive of these measures. We know that it does come at great cost and discomfort. However, we will continue to abide by the injunctions as articulated by the President.
King’s School, like many other schools, now must think differently about schooling, for the immediate future. To this end we will be launching our online educational programs on the 14 April 2020. Each parent must, please, register as per the instructions on the YOUTUBE link. https://youtu.be/p5CLtzrD42g
Also see Instructions
1. Open a web browser.
2. Enter the address "internetlearning.co.za/moodle" in the top address bar.
3. Press ENTER to navigate to the website.
4. Click "New account" or "Create an account".
5. Complete the registration form. Select your school.
6. Wait for the confirmation email and click on the link. Check your SPAM folder.
7. When you log in for the first time, click on "King's School", then select the class and term.
There will also be a PDF attachment giving instructions regarding registration. This will enable you to register on the King’s School page. Your child will then be able to access all the information needed to ensure that education will continue, in these unusual times.
The teachers have taken great care in constructing lessons, work sheets, questions, assignments etc. for each Grade and each subject. Bear with us as we navigate these unusual times. ‘There is a huge learning curve that pupils, parents, school and teaching staff will be navigating together!!
As we embark on these new methods of teaching and learning, I am asking you as parents to refrain from publicly scrutinizing teachers/schools for the way they are teaching or the lessons they are assigning. Please offer grace to the teacher and other educational personnel. I promise that educating is still our number one priority.
We are teachers, we love what we do! We are about to navigate uncharted waters with very little prep time. This is a crisis, not a time to be playing armchair or keyboard warrior. We love teaching and will be doing our absolute best!" Adapted from Author unknown.
Thank you for your support and encouragement during this time.
The non-payment of fees has been raised as a potential risk to independent schools during this time. We therefore appeal to parents to honour that commitment and contractual obligation.
To those who are financially affected due to abnormal working arrangements, which possibly leads to reduced income, we ask that you communicate with the Principal’s office directly so that we are aware of the challenges to try and find a mutually, workable solution.
Yours faithfully
N Ontong Principal
